Dear Departed Future

All I have is what my back can carry
All I can hope for is a temporary sanctuary
And its raining again, wish all this would end

Sometimes when its still I am transported
Back to a time before everything got all distorted
And I miss my friends, as the night descends

Dear departed future, I am inclined to disappear
Instead of floating futile through what's left of now
And what used to be here

With survival the key, nowhere the destination
Is really finding a cure my human obligation
What about my health? Should I save myself?

Out on the road there's more than just the supernatural
Those wicked-hearted souls are sleeping in the shadows
With eyes like steel, no they do not feel

Dear departed father, I thought with time that you'd appear
Instead I've had to wander inside my mind so I could see clear

What advice would you give to me now
Never have I been one to lay down
And if I fall on my sword, would I be lost anymore?
Would I still be walking around?

What I wouldn't give to bathe in the light

What's the point of a world that's been to hell and back?
What could we possibly do to get it back on track
When everyone is cursed, it can't be reversed
